BBK is committed to a collaborative
structure that draws on the experience, resources and expertise of the
agencies and neighborhoods in the Iron Triangle community. The majority
of agencies in the BBK Collaborative have worked with one another for
as many as 35 years, share aligned philosophies, and recognize that no
agency alone can meet the needs in the community, especially during
present difficult times.
Through its
collaborative structure, BBK brings together an unusual richness of
resources and enables:
- Enhanced
capacity to identify and prioritize community needs, independent of
individual agency needs and priorities
- Political
strength and advocacy greater than that of any single agency or the
community alone
- Better decisions
derived from multiple perspectives and complementary expertise
- Reduced
institutional barriers to solving problems and meeting the needs of
families
- Increased
awareness of and capacity to coordinate, share, and leverage resources
- Increased
opportunity to establish personal and agency relationships that result
in better service to families
- Coordination of
overlapping efforts and elimination of needlessly redundant efforts
- Improved
resource allocation to the community, families, and children
- Shared training
capacity for the community and BBK member agencies
- Opportunities
for community members to learn skills, make connections, and nurture
community leadership
